REHEARSE AND PERFORM CHORAL WORKS (WITH ORCHESTRA)
AND CHAMBER CHOIR MUSIC IN THE SAME WEEK!

BE PART OF THE UK’S LARGEST SINGLE WEEK ADULT CHORAL COURSE, WITH ITS LEGENDARY SOCIAL PROGRAMME!

This hugely successful summer course is the largest single week gathering of adult choral singers in the country. Its blend of large chorus AND chamber choir repertoire, excellent choral tutors and mix of singing and social activities make it a very popular course for singers of all abilities and backgrounds.

ARE YOU A CHORAL SOCIETY SINGER?
This year’s choral/orchestral performance is special in that it takes the South of England Festival Chorus to the magnificent setting of Winchester Cathedral for the first time. Music for Cathedral Cities is centred around Bob Chilcott’s stunning new Salisbury Vespers, which was given its world premiere in Salisbury Cathedral last May. Also featuring the superb Farnham Youth Choir, Chilcott’s exciting, large-scale work looks back exactly 400 years to Monteverdi’s famous setting. The theme of the integral Magnificat is the same as that used by the Italian master in 1610. During the week you will also experience different choral styles by being part of a smaller choir tackling varied chamber repertoire in a wide variety of styles, and from many different periods of composition.

DO YOU USUALLY SING IN A CHAMBER OR CONCERT CHOIR?
In addition to learning new smaller choir repertoire you will participate in the performance of major choral works, with orchestral accompaniment, in a large venue (see above). Share in this exciting experience with up to 250 other singers and prepare the works in just one week! Also, you will make many choral friends who are members of choirs from all over the country and beyond.

CRANLEIGH SCHOOL - THE COURSE VENUE
Situated in the Surrey countryside some 10 miles south of Guildford, Cranleigh School has superb facilities. As well as having a purpose built Music School and a range of other rehearsal and performing facilities, including the large School Chapel, accommodation and catering is of a high standard. The School offers a host of recreational activities, including a modern indoor swimming pool, stables and even a nine hole golf course! Guildford is a major shopping centre and places of interest nearby include the Royal Horticultural Gardens at Wisley.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Participants on the course can join in one of several categories based on being resident or non-resident. It is possible to take part in the whole week’s activities, the chamber choir element or just the SEFCho performance in Winchester.
