Welcome to the Cranleigh Choral Week website incorporating the South of England Festival Chorus.

Following on from last year's highly successful event!

Sunday 10th August – Sunday 17th August 2008

Devised and run by husband and wife team Jeffrey Wynn Davies and Fiona Clucas, the hugely successful Harrogate Choral Week grew to be the largest single week gathering of choral singers in the country.  Its blend of large chorus and chamber choir repertoire, excellent choral tutors and mix of singing and social activities made it a very popular course for singers of all abilities and backgrounds.  After twelve years based in the North Yorkshire spa town, the course relocated to a new venue in 2007 – Cranleigh School in Surrey – and became the Cranleigh Choral Week.

Concert performances during the week will include music by American composers Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen and take place in the School Chapel, with the end of course performance of Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony and Stanford's Songs of the Fleet being held in Guildford Cathedral.  To find out more about the course and to register your interest in taking part, please click on the links on the left. Make a note of the dates now in your diary.  You won’t want to miss this amount of music and fun all packed into one week.

Unable to attend for the whole week?   If you don't fancy taking part in the whole course or you are unable to take all the time off then there is also the option just to participate as a member of the South of England Festival Chorus (SEFCho) for the main concert at the end of the week.  The charge for this not only covers all the rehearsal & concert costs for the performance but also includes tea/coffee, lunch & dinner on the Friday & Saturday plus participation in the social programme.  Click here for further details.

Situated in the Surrey countryside some 10 miles south of Guildford, Cranleigh School has superb facilities. As well as having a purpose built Music School and a range of other rehearsal and performing facilities, including the large School Chapel, accommodation and catering is of a high standard. The School offers a host of recreational activities including a modern indoor swimming pool, stables and even a nine hole golf course. Guildford is a major shopping centre and places of interest nearby include the Royal Horticultural Gardens at Wisley and Birdworld near Farnham.
